Sallie Cate's Baptism

We celebrated Sallie Cate's baptism this past Saturday morning with a private ceremony at our church with our family. It made me so sad to not be having her baptized at the church I grew up in {where I was baptized and received all my sacraments, where John and I were married, and where C was also baptized}, but it was also important for us to  establish our roots here since this is most likely where our girls will be growing up. And hopefully our church here will be as important to our children as my church at home is to me.

It was such a special day, and I was so emotional. I tried to hold in the tears but was unsuccessful. Listening to the priest recite the poignant words of this holy sacrament while looking at my sweet, innocent baby just overwhelmed me. The priest mentioned how it is only through the grace and strength of God that we can be good parents, and how true that is! I pray that my girls will always know Him and will feel surrounded by the perfect love that only He can give.

It meant so much to us to be in the presence of those we love most, and we had lots of family come in from out of town, including my sweet aunts, my brother {one of the godfathers} from California, and my best friend, Elizabeth {the godmother} who came all the way from Arizona with her little girl.

We had everyone over to our house for lunch afterwards.

I tried to keep thing simple and just did the flowers myself.

Oh, the cake. There was drama {they did her monogram in BLACK and I was furious!}, but it turned out ok I guess and tasted great. Won't be using them again though {since they totally messed up Sinclair's smash cake and now this one too}. We stuck those flowers where they had scraped off her monogram. I had asked them to put it on the front originally, but they didn't have any icing left to correct it, so it ended up with no monogram.

My Aunt Mary made these beautiful dresses for the girls {same pattern but C's is pink and Sinclair's is blue, and both have their initial hand-sewn on the front}. All Aunt Mary wanted was a pic of the two girls barefoot in the grass. A lot easier said than done with a 1 and nearly 3 year old. 

We did get one of C putting S in a head lock hugging Sinclair. Sorry, Aunt Mary! :)

We are so blessed to have such a sweet aunt who loves us and our girls so much and clearly spoils us! We love her dearly, and so do all our friends! They all lovingly call her "Aunt Mary" too. :)

Late that afternoon, some friends came over so the kids could play and we tried to get a group shot of all our kids {minus SC}. It was not easy.

We were all carrying on trying to get them to smile and Sinclair jumped up and started clapping and yelling for herself. Then Louis joined in on the clapping. It was so funny.

It was a wonderful weekend full of family, and great memories were made. We were so thankful to be able to celebrate Sallie Cate's new life and walk as a child of Christ.
