The Quinns: Thanksgiving Weekend

We spent Thanksgiving this year with my family in Jackson. We left Wednesday night after work. Normally C does really well in the car if it's her bed time because she sleeps the whole way, and for when she gets restless we have a travel DVD player. Well, I was a little nervous about this trip because John's car got broken into on Tuesday night and they stole the DVD player. :( Oddly enough, my dad's car got broken into the same night. Crazy! Anyway, C did great both ways, and on the way home I played her DVD on my computer.

Curran greeted Thanksgiving morning with a dance party while watching the Macy's parade. She loved all the musical numbers as well as the balloons!

My grandmother, aunt, and uncle joined us for lunch. My brother was in town from California, so I was very glad that C was able to spend some good quality time with him since she doesn't see him very much. It's funny because every time she sees him initially, she just stares at him {I think because he looks a lot like me and it confuses her??}, and then she starts looking back and forth between us. :) She definitely loves him, and even sounded like she was trying to say "Uncle Walt" earlier today. It was pretty cute.

We have some pictures from Curran eating her lunch, but those must be on Chris' camera. I wasn't sure how she would like "Thanksgiving food," but she did pretty good! She loved the sweet potato casserole {of course}, the dressing, and the ham my dad made. She ate one bite of cranberry chutney and seemed to like it but spit out subsequent bites. She did NOT like the smoked turkey, or the corn pudding which surprised me since she likes corn. Of course she also liked the rolls and caramel cake. :)

C in her precious outfit made by my friend Prim. C loved pointing her turkey out to everyone. She wore it 3 times in the last week, and I hated to pack it away earlier tonight. :(

Christopher and Craig had to leave on Saturday to spend time with his family, so the rest of us drove up to Canton {a small town about 15 minutes north of Jackson} to see the Christmas lights around the town square.

We turned C's car seat forward-facing {for the first time} so she wouldn't miss any lights {it is now back to rear-facing}. She didn't know quite what to think at first, but she seemed to really like the change. In the picture above she was waving to Big {my dad} who was driving. She didn't understand why he couldn't turn around every time she said "hey" to him. :)

While we were riding it, C didn't act like she liked it too much {except for the occasional "wee"}, but she definitely threw a fit when we got off.

Then we rode around the Square in this little fire truck.

We went into a shop where C found some fun things to play with.

Then when it was time to go, C got so mad and tried to run off. Right when she got next to a loud speaker, it started blaring Christmas music SO LOUD. She stopped dead in her tracks, and after about 10 seconds of standing completely still in shock, she started dancing to the music. It was so funny!

This morning we went to church {well my mom and I did because C was napping, so John stayed with her} and then went to lunch and to visit my grandmother at the nursing home.
