The Weekend

Friday night we went across the street to have a drink with our neighbors. Their daughter Lillian is 4 days younger than Curran, and they are in the same class at school. We are so glad to have such fun neighbors!

It was really hard to get them to sit still long enough to take a picture.

Lillian loved John and played at his feet all night.

Saturday morning we had our last WaterBabies class. Although I had a lot of fun doing it, I will not miss having to be out of the door by 7:40 on Saturday mornings.

Then after class, we braved the storms and headed to John's parents' house in Memphis. We tried to plan it where we would miss most of the bad weather, but we did hit a rough patch, and I got totally freaked out after I heard about the tornado that hit Yazoo City. My mom's side of the family lives there, and I was so worried about their safety! We couldn't figure out where exactly the tornado was headed so we went back and forth {literally, turning around twice} trying to figure out if we should keep going to Memphis or go back to Birmingham. We ended up pressing on, and I'm glad we did because the weather ended up being beautiful in Memphis.

On Saturday night we went to the Birthright Ball {Birthright is a pro-life organization that offers encouragement and support to pregnant women} because John's mom is a board member and was getting an award. I had no idea she was getting an award, and when we got there I saw it listed in the program. So I turned to John and asked if he knew, and he said "Yeah, that's why I wanted to come." That's the story of our lives...he never tells me anything! We are very proud of Mrs. Quinn and were glad to be able to be there to celebrate with her! She has gotten more awards in the 8 years I have known them! She is so dedicated to her job at the University of Memphis as well as all of the organizations she's a part of! We had a good time, and it was so nice to be able to have a nice evening out. The band was so fun and even made me want to dance {and if you know me at all, you know that is saying something}. I was slightly mortified though when the band leader came up to me with the microphone and wanted to finish singing the end of Stand By Me. I had to politely decline. :)

My Aunt Mary graciously babysat Curran. It was good to be able to visit with her and my Uncle Keith. Aunt Mary also made Curran the cutest apron! It is to die for, and I can't wait for her to wear it! She also brought over an old dress of mine that she had smocked for me when I was little.

On Sunday, the boys went to play golf while the girls went to visit a friend of Mrs. Quinn's. When we got home, the boys had also just gotten home, and John had a huge bandage on his hand. Apparently, while he was swinging his club, the shaft broke and went right into the palm of his hand. So they had to go to the ER, and he ended up with 4 stitches in his hand. We were supposed to go out to eat last night for our friend John Lowry's birthday, so I was trying to quickly bathe the baby so I could get her down for the night. John came in the bathroom and said he was going to Chris and Craig's house to get some things for them because Chris had left the house in a mad rush to take Craig to the ER. I thought he was kidding, but nope, Craig was in the ER getting 6 stitches put in his leg. I mean, what are the odds that my husband and brother-in-law end up in the ER with stitches on the same day?? Luckily they were minor injuries and they're both ok.  And thankfully God watched over my family in Yazoo City and kept them all safe, as well as watching over us while we were driving on Saturday!
