Natchez 2013

The weekend after Thanksgiving we took our annual trip to Natchez with my parents {you can read more about the tradition behind it here}. Even though this was our third weekend in a row to travel out of state, we were so looking forward to the trip! I forgot my big camera, so all of these pictures are from my cell phone, and most of them have already been posted on Instagram {and most are blurry :/ }.

We left Bham early Friday morning and stopped in Jackson to meet up at my parents' house and eat lunch. Once we got to Natchez we headed straight downtown to hit up a few shops before they closed. SC had her first taste of fudge at Darby's and was begging for more. The shop owner {Darby} was working behind the counter and asked if anyone else needed fudge {there was a big crowd in there} and we heard this little voice pipe up and say, "I do!" It was Sinclair. :)

Sorry for the blurry pics. These are their favorite swings outside of Darby's. It was FREEZING but they didn't want to leave.

Then we headed to Dunleith to check in and get settled. My parents stayed in the main house this year, and we met there for the cocktail hour before dinner. There was a pianist and he was delighted when we walked in. There was no one there so he wasn't even playing the piano, but once he saw the girls, he started playing lots of fun Christmas songs for them. Probably not appropriate to let 3 young children dance around a house with antiques dating back to the 1800's, but they had a blast.

We ate dinner at The Castle restaurant at Dunleith, which I was slightly nervous about considering my children {well really just SC} like to act like wild banshees when we are at nice restaurants, but the hostess was smart and put us in a private dining room. I was fully prepared to just skip dinner and let SC go to bed early, but she actually made it through most of the meal before she and John headed back to the room. 

 And Miss Priss refused to sit in a high chair. She's fun.

It was COLD, so they didn't really get to play and run around the grounds this year.

And this one likes to wear socks on her hands instead of mittens. Whatevs.

Craig, John, and my dad took C to the hotel bar to watch the Auburn game while the littles napped, so she had a big time.

Saturday night we went to the Christmas parade downtown.

Then we headed to back for hot baths and cousin snuggles.

Sinclair has a "hair thing". We used to just think she was particular to her mama and now we know she takes a liking to anyone's hair that is within reach. :)

So thankful for my parents who allow us to make these wonderful memories year after year!
