Ringing in the New Year

I took last week off from work because Curran's school is always closed the week after Christmas. Last year we had a hard time finding a babysitter, and John ended up having to miss two days of work. So this year I decided it would be easier for me to just take off.

C and I went to Jackson to see my parents on Wednesday morning. That was the first time I had driven on a long trip with her by myself since she was really little, so I was nervous that it would be rough. But she surprised me and was SO good! She hardly made a peep! It just might have had something to do with the fact that I let her have her pacifier, which she is only allowed to have when she sleeps. We always plan our trips around her nap time/bed time, so we left Bham right before her morning nap. So I gave her her paci and just let her keep it the whole way. She was thrilled. :) {My goal was to have the pacifier gone by the time she turned 18 months, but that ain't gonna happen.}

We didn't have too much planned while we were in Jackson, but we had a great time being at home and hanging out with my parents and brother! We had a good family friend's wedding on New Year's Eve, so Chris and Craig got into town on Thursday night and John came down on Friday afternoon.

After lunch on Wednesday, we ran by this children's store called Helen's. My mom always shopped there for us growing up, and I spent much time as a child playing on this train. It was fun to see C playing on it, too! She was having a big time and did NOT want to leave!

She always spends a lot of time playing on our front steps.

She found this noodle {not sure why my mom has one} and had a lot of fun playing with it.

Feisty!

C spent a lot of time running down the street looking for our neighbor's cat that my mom feeds {our neighbor died a few months ago so my mom takes care of the cat}.

She also loved playing with our old snow globes.

And she kept trying to "feed" them to Sydney.

On Friday we had lunch at Brent's Drugs, an old soda fountain where we spent lots of time growing up. She tasted her first limeade and loved it!

At the wedding on New Year's Eve.

Ringing in the New Year!

My sibs.

It was unfortunate that a spot light hit Chris and Craig right as I took their picture. :)

She was throwing a fit because she wanted me to stop taking her picture and let her go outside to play! {and can I just add that I am so obsessed with her red shoes!} {and with that adorable romper my Aunt Mary made C!}

C loved "swinging" on the rope swing!
Then Uncle Craig decided it was his turn.

Our little soccer star! :)

It was so fun to be off for the week! I could really get used to being a full time stay at home mom! :)

I love her red shoes! She's so stinkin' cute! And I love that your mom is taking care of the neighbor's kitty. I'm about to write about a cat story myself.
