Wedding in St. Simons

This past weekend I went with my friends Prim and Morgan to our good friend, Sarah Frances', wedding in St. Simons Island, GA. C-Bug stayed here with John and my in-laws who came in town to help out. It is always hard to leave her, and I keep waiting for it to get easier. So far, it hasn't. Of course I always miss her like crazy, but it also has something to do with the fact that I am a control freak who likes to micromanage everyone. So it's hard for me to give that up. :) I annoy John when I call home because I always want to know how long she napped, what and how much she ate, where they went, what she wore, etc. Don't all moms want to know that info?! 

But I know it's good for both John and Curran to have some time together. She is still such a mama's girl that when I'm around, it's very hard to for her to have any good quality time with John. I am always happy to see her cling to him a little more when I return to town.

I had never been to SSI and didn't really know what to expect. I pictured a beachy town with lots of pastels {houses, shops, etc} and little vegetation {kind of like Seaside or something similar}. Well, I was wrong. It looks more like the South Carolina low county- marshes and beautiful old Spanish Moss trees. I seriously could not get over how pretty the trees were! I could have taken a million pictures of them!

The East Coast beaches are definitely different from the Gulf I am used to.

We went to the Bailey Boys outlet and I probably could have stayed all day! {SD I thought about you. :) }

We spotted this familiar face in a local store. {This is our Christmas card from last year!} SF worked in a store when she moved to St. Simons and they asked her to find some pictures for some frames, so she used a few of her Xmas cards. We didn't know we were even in the store where she worked until we spotted this picture {and some of C's other buddies}. It caught us off guard and made us laugh.

I was so mad that I forgot to take my camera to the reception. I am not one to take pictures at other people's weddings, but I would have loved to document this reception. It was one of the prettiest I've ever been to! So my blurry cell phone pics {that don't do it any justice} will have to suffice.

And I can't end the post without some pics of my favorite toddler. She had a major milestone earlier tonight! {Sorry in advance for any fellas that may be reading this.} She went to the bathroom in the potty for the first time!!! I was SO proud of her! I bought it last weekend, and she has sat on it a few times in the last several days, but tonight was the first time she did anything. I made a really big deal of it, and she got one M&M! :) We are by no means seriously potty training; I just want her to get used to the idea.


Along the lines of milestones, I'm thinking about getting her hair cut for the first time this weekend. Really, just a very slight trim. I really wanted to wait until her hair was long enough to be cut one length, but girlfriend is gettin' shaggy. Evidence:

I never thought I would be ready for the cut before John, but he is being resistant. We'll see what happens.

I've seen Kelly mention how her daughter loves the mannequins at Old Navy. Well, I had my first experience with that a few weeks ago. I ran in there to look at swim suits, and C spotted the "people" up front. The entire time we were in there, she kept saying "people people people" over and over. So I let her visit with them for a few minutes before we left.

I heard a noise when I was at the sink two nights ago and turned around to see this.

It is always so nice to get away for awhile, but it's even better to come back home!
