Well I'm just a tad late getting this post up. John turned 5 months on Feb 22! Four-five months was big as far as development goes. He started rolling over, with the first being from back to stomach, then followed by stomach to back. He is still sleeping on his back because the Magic Merlin sleep suit makes it impossible to roll over while wearing it. I'm sure we're nearing the end of his being able to wear that. He found his feet, and I just never get tired of watching a baby play with his feet. It is the cutest thing to me. He grabs at them any chance he gets. He's not quite flexible enough to get them in his mouth yet though. He also found his voice shortly after he turned 4 months and screeches, squeals, and babbles all day long.
It was a really bad month on the sleeping front. All of my babies go through a hard time at 4 months, and he was no different. Literally the night of his four month birthday, he went from only waking up once and being very easy to put down, to waking up multiple times a night and being hard to get settled at night. And he would wake up at very random times every night- nothing was predictable! He also was only taking cat naps most days, 30-40 minutes at a time. Every now and then he would have a longer nap, but it was rare. He was still very much on the eat-play-sleep newborn schedule. He just isn't happy staying awake for more than two hours after he wakes up. We have slowly transitioned away from that in the last couple of weeks.
SC loves to play with him and read to him.
He was nursing every 2-3 hours during the day and took a 5-6 oz bottle before bed. He went through a rough patch with taking those bottles at night, but thankfully that seems to be better lately. It was also very hard for anyone but me to put him down. The two times I wasn't here at night, he screamed bloody murder with John, and it broke my heart.
He wears a size 2 diaper during the day, a size 3 overnight diaper, and mostly 3-6 month clothes. He can wear a couple of pairs of 0-3 month pajamas and a few 6 month and even 9 month outfits (but only in brands that run small).
He started scooting backwards across the floor and can easily move himself around the room that way. I can't leave him alone for more than a minute these days! He also scoots himself up in his bed so that his head is tucked in the corner. Another reason we still use bumpers in our house!
I left him under this blanket while I went to heat up my lunch. I came back a couple of minutes later and found him under it like this.
He loves the Ergo and naps a lot in it, especially when we are at Sallie's gymnastics practices and sometimes still in the evenings at home.
His cousin loves him, and the feeling is slowly becoming mutual. Wilkes will smile so big when he sees baby John- it's precious!
He celebrated his first Valentine's Day!
Had his first trip to the park and to the zoo!
We love this sweet boy so much!
